M2 Weights

M2 weights are used as adjustment weights, test weights and calibration weights for commercial balances and industrial weighing applications. They are particularly suitable for balances of accuracy class III and for applications with medium accuracy requirements.

M2 test weights are commonly used in general commercial transactions, together with commercial balances and in quality assurance. They can also be used for the calibration and verification of weights of class M3 according to OIML R111.

Depending on the accuracy requirements, weights of classes M1, M2 and M3 can also be used as load bodies for tensile, compression or torsion measurements.

  • Testing and adjustment of commercial balances of accuracy class III
  • Quality assurance of balances with medium resolution
  • Use in general commercial transactions
  • Check weighing in industry, trade and production
  • Calibration of weights of class M3
  • Use as load bodies for tensile, compression or torsion measurements

Marking of M2 Weights

According to OIML R111-1:2004, weights of class M2 from 1 g upwards are marked with their nominal value, but without unit information. To identify class M2, the class M2 is additionally applied.

For cylindrical weights with an adjustment cavity, the class marking is usually located on the knob or on the top of the weight. For block-shaped or other designs, the marking may be applied depending on the design and available space.

For differentiation, weights of the same nominal value that occur more than once in weight sets can be marked with dots or stars.

In addition, customer-specific user markings, such as characters, letters or numbers, can be applied. This allows the weights to be clearly identified as test or measuring equipment and better integrated into internal test equipment management.

These user markings can be specified individually when ordering.
